Recalibrate

We can’t control time, which means we can’t stop aging. So what happens when you’re over the hill and you’re not sure what the next best step is in your career path?

It’s not like an early 90’s video game where you can throw the controller and hit the reset button. But you can take a step back and audit yourself. I recently heard in a Jocko podcast that you need to ask yourself: where are you at, where do you want to be, and what do you need to do to get there? The tricky part for me is knowing how to answer the second question.

So, since I’m not sure, figured I’d start setting little micro goals with the intent of forward momentum:

  • First, a personal goal is to continue training BJJ and try to get to class 4-5x per week. When I roll, I will only focus on a few goals and not care about getting tapped out.
  • On a similar note, I need to improve my strength and endurance. So, I will work out 3x / week via the Alexia app.
  • More time outside.
  • Get my mom’s house back in order by end of summer.
  • To get back up on my data analysis and modeling, I’m aiming for 5-8 hours of time on DataCamp. I’ll start with R and Excel.
  • Lastly, to improve my writing, I’m aiming for at least one book a month.

So, here’s to progress and forward momentum.
